Canada's Live-In Caregiver Program

Purpose of the Program
Canada’s Live-In Caregiver Program helps professionals from abroad come to Canada and become part of a Canadian Family. By working in Canada as a Live-In Caregiver, professionals from abroad have the opportunity to gain experience and begin their career in Canada. Canada’s Live-In Caregiver Program is a great way for professionals from abroad to see what life is like in Canada, and allows them to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada after completing the required 2-year period of employment as a Caregiver.

Who is the program for?
The Live-In Caregiver Program is for people who are qualified to independently care for children, the elderly, the ill, the developmentally challenged or the disabled. The program is meant to specifically find Caregivers to work on a live-in basis. The program was developed to provide live-in Caregivers to Canadian families, because there is a shortage of Canadians and permanent residents of Canada who are available to work on a live-in basis. For these reasons, people who come to work in Canada through the Live-In Caregiver Program are required to live-in.
