Employment Insurance Your Employer will be deducting Employment Insurance premiums through payroll deductions from each of your paycheques. There is not set amount. The amount will depend on how much you make per paycheque. Your Employer should provide you with a statement for each paycheque that indicates what payroll deductions have been made, and the amount of each payroll deduction. Your Employer is also required to make a contribution to Employment Insurance, but this will not be indicated on the statement you get with your paycheque. Employment Insurance is a government program to compensate workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. You will be eligible to collect Employment Insurance, however, your eligibility depends on whether you have worked for a required length of time. If you do begin collecting Employment Insurance, you will be expected to find another job as soon as possible.
