Canada Pension Plan

The Canadian Pension Plan makes pension payments to people who are at least 60 years of age, and who are retired or no longer working the hours they once did. You are not automatically eligible to receive CPP benefits payments when you turn 65. To be eligible, you must work the minimum number of years required… that is, if you come to Canada and work for only a couple of years, you will not be eligible to collect CPP payments even if CPP deductions were made from your pay while you were working in Canada.

CPP is deducted from each of your paycheques. The statement of pay you receive with each paycheque should tell you how much was deducted from that paycheque for CPP.
